The continuity of the special teams of the Public Ministry It is in an internal evaluation stage.
This was confirmed by the acting prosecutor of the Nation, Tomas Galvezwho reported that the Board of Supreme Prosecutors (JFS) has included the topic on its agenda for two sessions, but the decision has been postponed due to the lack of complete information about its operation, costs and results.
“The permanence of the special teams is under evaluation. It has even already been coordinated with the Board of Supreme Prosecutors, since for two sessions the continuity of these teams has been considered an agenda item,” Gálvez said.
As he explained, during the last meeting the requested documentation could not be accessed and to date it has not been delivered. For this reason, The decision was postponed until next week.
The analysis, he said, will include technical and administrative reports by the General Management and specialized agencies of the Public Ministry, the results of which will be presented at the next hearing of the JFS. The objective, he indicated, is to evaluate whether the special teams are meeting efficiency and budget sustainability standards.
Recent changes and tensions in the Cuellos Blancos case
The deliberation on the future of these groups occurs in parallel to a decision that has generated controversy: the removal of the provisional supreme prosecutor Elena Carolina Delgado, who led the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office in charge of the emblematic Cuellos Blancos del Puerto case, as well as the separation of the former provisional supreme deputy prosecutor Alejandra Cárdenas.
The measure was made official on October 31 through Resolution 3343-2025-MP-FN, published in the newspaper El Peruano. According to the document, the removal was due to the fact that Delgado had shared information related to the investigation of a supreme prosecutor with a provincial prosecutor from the Cuellos Blancos Special Team.
However, the file reveals a key fact: the supreme prosecutor mentioned in the documentation was Tomás Gálvez himself, who currently serves as interim prosecutor of the Nation and had been the subject of a request for information in the framework of previous investigations.
In the face of criticism, the interim prosecutor assured that the resolution clearly states the foundations and denied that there is any retaliation or personal motivation.
“The reasons for their dismissal are written in the resolution. They have demonstrated ignorance of functions, in other words, ignorance of the powers of a supreme prosecutor’s office,” he stated.
Regarding Delgado’s statements, who maintained that there was a tax file against him, Gálvez flatly denied it.
“That is totally false,” he said. However, he acknowledged that he summoned the prosecutor to his office to request explanations about actions that he considered improper.
“She told me that she had not done it, and then I verified that she had. I called her again and she apologized to me and said she was going to present her resignation,” said the prosecutor.
