New York University delegation on exchange trip to Cuba

A delegation from a university of New York He is visiting Cuba these days on an exchange trip with university institutions on the island.

Professors and specialists from Lehman College, in the New York district of the Bronx, make up the delegation that since the beginning of the year has been making a journey through various territories and universities of the country, according to the newspaper Escambray.

As part of that journey, they recently visited the José Martí University of Sancti Spíritus, “with the aim of strengthening academic and cooperation ties through exchange with their Sancti Spíritus counterparts,” the media reports.

Remember Escambray that both universities have maintained ties since 2017, when a delegation from Lehman College visited the Sancti Spíritus institution for the first time and a bilateral cooperation agreement was signed.

This agreement sought to “encourage the exchange of students, the holding of summer courses and joint work on various investigations,” the report states.

Visitors speak

“With this visit we seek to continue learning reciprocally as a family,” said Dr. Teresita Levy, vice chancellor of Internationalization and University Extension at Lehman College, about the exchange trip.

“We are very interested in continuing with collaborative and research projects to work on topics as sensitive as the environmental crisis, energy crisis and sustainable food processes, among others,” added the New York professor, quoted by Escambray.

According to the official media, Levy highlighted the “high quality of Cuban education and its intense training work,” an opinion shared by other visitors.

Among these, the Sancti Spiritus newspaper cites Doctor of Science Alsacia Sepúlveda-Pacsi, associate professor of the Department of Nursing at Lehman College, who highlighted “the passion and dedication of Cuban professors, in addition to the intense community and practical focus of Cuban higher education to train professionals capable of facing work challenges.”

The New York University delegation is made up of professors and specialists from various areas, including health, humanities, economics, social sciences and pedagogy.
