Several Brazilian tourist attractions brought together 22.1 million people to celebrate the arrival of 2025. The Southeast Region concentrated a large part of the public, with emphasis on the state of Rio de Janeiro, which brought together more than 5 million people for the celebrations.
The traditional fireworks display in Copacabana was one of the main attractions, attracting more than 2.6 million people. Among the visitors was retired Célia Dutra, from Brasília, who celebrated the new year alongside her husband and family on the sands of Copacabana. “We felt very safe, it was a spectacle. The people of Rio are very receptive. We love Rio de Janeiro”, reported the tourist.
In São Paulo, it is estimated that at least 2 million people participated in the New Year festivities. In Espírito Santo, cities such as Guarapari and Vila Velha also attracted millions of tourists.
The states in the south of the country recorded significant numbers, with Balneário Camboriú, in Santa Catarina, being the stage for 2 million Brazilians and foreigners to celebrate the arrival of 2025, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism.
In the Northeast, Fortaleza brought together 1 million people to welcome the new year. Other cities, such as Sinop, in Mato Grosso, brought together 35 thousand people, and Manaus, in Amazonas, had 150 thousand participants in the celebrations.
Brazil also recorded an all-time record number of foreign tourists. In 2024, more than 6.5 million international visitors came to the country, reaching the best mark since 1970, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
