In addition to the three stages in Copacabana, ten more stages were set up. The premieres were made by Parque Oeste (Inhoaíba) and Parque Realengo Susana Naspolini. The fireworks show took place in three locations: Copacabana, Flamengo and Penha. Before New Year’s Eve, a light show illuminated Copacabana with a ballet of lasers opening the countdown to 2025.

The Municipal Urban Cleaning Company (Comlurb), in Rio de Janeiro, reported today (1st) that it removed 980 tons of waste after the New Year’s Eve party in different parts of the city.

Of this total, 508 tons were in Copacabana, the scene of the main New Year’s Eve event on the night of January 31st. There were 60 tons more than last year.

Next came the beaches of Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes, which together accounted for 180 tons, and Praia de Sepetiba, with 17.5 tons. The last three are in the West Zone.

Copacabana had two thousand street cleaners, 160 vehicles and 70 pieces of equipment. In addition, the four medical stations installed for New Year’s Eve were cleaned. According to Comlurb, at 10am this Wednesday (1st) the tracks were already clean and deodorized, with Avenida Atlântica and the leisure area open to the public.

According to the Military Police (PM), there were no serious incidents during the party. But five suspects ended up detained and two teenagers apprehended.

Seventeen stolen cell phones were recovered. At the search stations, 234 sharp objects, such as knives and scissors, were collected. Four medical stations treated 500 people, many for falls or poisoning due to alcohol consumption. Firefighting teams carried out 45 rescues, 29 of which were at sea, most of them after New Year’s Eve.

The Public Order Secretariat and the Municipal Guard seized around 1,700 items from street vendors in Copacabana. Among them, drinks, glass bottles and other large structures.

Crews dismantled more than 50 camps and four attempted playpens. Three gas cylinders and seven barbecue grills were seized. Also on the list are 280 plastic tables and chairs in a kiosk, which was storing the material in a public area.
