Research on hotel occupancy by the Union of Accommodation Services of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (HotéisRIO) indicates that there was an increase in rates in all regions of the capital in comparison with the survey presented before the New Year’s Eve party.
In the period from December 29, 2024 to January 1, 2025, the average in the city was 86.51%, exceeding the predicted 85.19%. On New Year’s Eve, from December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025, occupancy reached 98.3%, a number higher than the 96.20% expected in the previous survey.
In the main regions, performance also exceeded expectations: in Copacabana/Leme the survey closed at 89.75% (the forecast was 87.76%), Barra/Recreio/São Conrado was at 87.18% (86.86% in previous survey), Ipanema/Leblon registered 86.05% (84.64% in the previous survey), Flamengo/Botafogo 81.48% (80.90% in the previous survey). previous) and Center 79.17% (76.46% in the previous one).
The president of HotéisRIO, Alfredo Lopes, said that two factors for this increase were early publicity and the quality of the artists who were at New Year’s Eve in Copacabana and the rise in the dollar.
“This was fundamental in the decision-making process for people to come to Rio de Janeiro, both national and foreign visitors. New Year’s Eve is a milestone in Rio de Janeiro’s calendar, which contributes significantly to the image of our city and the development of tourism. An event with 2.6 million people in complete safety, without incidents”, stated Lopes.
He also highlighted the New Year’s Eve party in the Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes region, which also featured fireworks, set off from condominiums, shopping malls and hotels, which organize large parties that are highly sought after by tourists. “It’s a celebration with demand that grows every year.”
