Carabineros delivered this Sunday a balance of the situation on the roads, within the framework of the New Year celebrations, reporting a total of 622 accidents, 480 injuries and 25 deaths nationwide.
The mayor of the Carabineros, Cristián Moraga, also notified that from Thursday, December 30 to today, January 2, 260 thousand vehicles have returned, expecting the return of another 100 thousand in the remainder of the afternoon.
“Some road management measures have been specifically arranged on Route 68 and also on Autopista del Sol, which are the expansion of a traffic lane to Santiago to ensure the movement of citizens,” the police official explained.
He also specified that there have been about 42 thousand inspections nationwide, registering more than 1,000 speeding violations and 190 accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
