The country is going through the middle of summer and, with it, it is expected extreme temperatures for the next few days, according to the SMN (National Meteorological Service), which issued a yellow alert for several provinces.
According to the agency, the warning for the hot season applies to eleven provinces: Buenos Aires, Formosa, La Rioja, San Juan, Córdoba, San Luis, Mendoza, La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut, where extreme temperatures up to 40°C.
In particular, the alert for extreme temperatures It occurs in the entire metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, the south of La Rioja, the south of San Juan, the whole of Mendoza, the north and west of La Pampa, a large part of Neuquén, the center, east and north of Córdoba and north and east of Río Negro.
As explained by the SMN, “a yellow alert indicates that the expected temperatures may have a mild to moderate effect on people’s healthbut they can be dangerous in the case of risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65, with chronic diseases.”
Therefore, it is recommended to drink plenty of water throughout the day, avoid physical exercise outdoors in hours of intense sun and stay in cool places. According to the forecasts of the SMN, the hot season it will last at least for the next six days, so it is important to take precautions, especially in older adults and children.
Meanwhile, in the City of Buenos Aires, this Tuesday, a minimum temperature of 24 ° C and a maximum of 36 ° C are expected; trend that will continue Wednesday and Thursday.

The SMN also issued an alert for storms that will occur in towns in the province of Buenos Aires: Ayacucho, Balcarce, General Guido, Maipú, Mar Chiquita. There will also be rains and storms in the center and southeast of Mendoza, south of San Luis and west of La Pampa.
In this regard, the agency explained: “Some of the storms may be locally strong and will be accompanied by gusts, significant electrical activity, hail fall and abundant waterfall in short periods of time.” Accumulated precipitation values of between 15 and 40 millimeters are expected in these areas.
