New steps and more information to request the passport through the Saime page

The Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Aliens (Saime) is introducing changes to its platform. Starting next week, to request a new passport, data such as the information corresponding to the registry book where the birth certificate, year and number of the certificate, and precise data from the health center where the applicant was born, will have to be provided. These same data will also be necessary to renew the identity card.


The Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Aliens (Saime) reported through their social networks that adjustments are being made to the system to improve the platform; so the system will be suspended between March 13 and 17.

These new adaptations of the portal bring with them new procedures for apply for passport and renew identity card.

However, in the explanatory videos that Saime has posted on his social networks, he has not explained how the procedure to request a passport for minors will be carried out, if it will be through the user of their representatives or if they must have a personal user. .

Through videos, Saime details, step by step, how to carry out the procedure, which can only be managed through its portal.

  1. Upon entering the www.saime.gov.vethe user must click on the login option that will be on the main page, where they will write their identity card and password.
  2. After selecting the passport option and verifying the applicant’s data, the “new application” option must be checked.
  3. The next step is “identity”, where the person must verify their data such as nationality, ID, names and surnames, date of birth, age, sex and marital status. The Saime clarifies that this information cannot be modified by the user.
  4. Nationality: the user must provide the data of the birth certificate such as state, municipality, parish, civil registry, registry book, year of registration and certificate number. Then the health center where the person was born must be filled out; that include: country, state, municipality, place of delivery, with the exact address and click on “next”.
  5. Address: in this section, the applicant must fill in the information of his residence.
  6. Review of the order: at this point, the applicant will verify the data uploaded to the portal and will be able to modify any field by pressing the “edit” button. Later, the portal informs that the documents to be presented on the day of the appointment are: proof of residence and the identity card of the applicant. You must click on “confirm data”.
  7. Schedule an appointment: the user must select the state, country and the office where they will go to the appointment, after the system shows them the days available and the time they will attend. To finish, you must click on “schedule appointment”.
  8. Procedure payment: the procedure payment form is the last step, where you must select the bank, ID card of the account holder. Upon completing the transaction, the portal will issue the payment receipt for the procedure and the application will be complete.

The cost of the passport for adults is 3.6 petros and for children between 0 and 2 years it is 1.8 petros and for children between 3 and up to 17 years it is 2.7 petros.
