A new incident was recorded this Sunday, October 31, 2021 in the Litoral Penitentiary, north of Guayaquil, when people deprived of their liberty made several shots.
According to the report of the National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Adults Deprived of Liberty (SNAI), the fact he left no injuries or fatalities.
The institution in charge of the social rehabilitation system reported that the alarm registered in the Guayas No. 1 Center for the Deprivation of Liberty was due to shots in the air in one of the pavilions, but not because of a new conflict between inmates.
The SNAI denied that they had presented new clashes between organized crime groups.
In order to protect the well-being of the people detained in the center, the Special Penitentiary Action Group, Penitentiary Security Agents and the National Police tightened controls in the penitentiary, according to a statement from the rehabilitation service.
Police and military intervention
