Women over 18 years of age who live in popular neighborhoods throughout Argentina will be able to participate in a new draw to access the My Piece programintended to finance repairs or extensions of their homes, based on the decision of the Ministry of Social Development that this Monday reopened the registration.

So far, a total of 140 thousand women have already accessed the programfor which an investment of 32 billion pesos was allocated from the Socio-Urban Integration Fund (Fisu), made up of 15% of the Extraordinary Contribution of the Great Fortunes and 9% of the Country tax.

“This program is part of the policy of social and urban integration of popular neighborhoods, towns and settlements throughout the country that SISU carries out through urbanization projects, the creation of social lots with services and massive housing improvements,” he stated. Last January, based on an analysis of the data recorded in the registrations for the previous draw, it was found that “the 41.5% of the women who expect to be benefited live in a condition of “critical overcrowding”, that is, more than three people share an environment.

Besides, 30.2% declared living in conditions of “moderate overcrowding”which means that “they live in the same space with two or three people”.

The records of the Ministry of Social Development also found that “10% of the women who applied to access the program suffered or suffer some type of gender-based violence”; that 17.4% are “single-parent households” and that 13.6% are dependent on a family member with a disability.

The My Piece program is compatible with any social benefit, including the Work Promotion program; however, from the ministry they insisted that “those who do not complete the progress of the work will be disqualified for new lines of economic assistance.”
