UDELAR approved the first courses that will be taught starting in 2025 in Colonia and Soriano
In Colonia, classes will be held at the Colonia del Sacramento Sports Center, while in Soriano they will be held in a large house located in Mercedes.
The Central Board of Directors (CDC) of the University of the Republic (UDELAR) approved the first courses to be taught in Colonia and Soriano: Technologist in Administration and Accounting, University Technician in Cultural Assets and Computer Analyst.
The teaching offers submitted to the CDC arose from the initial call for courses and tertiary training programs for the Southwest region, managed by the Coordinating Commission of the Interior (CCI), reported UdelaR on its website. It is expected that new proposals will be submitted before the end of this year, when the second stage of the aforementioned call is completed.
During the session, Rodney Colina, president of the CCI, reported that in Colonia “classes will be held at the Polideportivo in Colonia del Sacramento, while in Soriano they will be held in a large building located in Mercedes.” Colina highlighted the joint work with the departmental mayors and the Pro University commissions of the region.
Approved educational offer
The Technologist in Administration and Accounting will be offered in both departments. Today this degree is offered in its entirety only at the Northeast Regional University Center and the Eastern Regional University Center. This training allows students to continue higher education at the undergraduate level in the Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Public Accounting degrees of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Administration.
The University Technical Degree in Cultural Assets will be offered in Colonia. Graduates will be able to continue higher education at the undergraduate level in the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences. Currently, the degree is offered at the Northeast and Northern Coast Regional University Center.
On the other hand, the Computer Analyst degree will be offered in Colonia. Graduates will be able to continue their training in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computing or Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering. Currently, this degree can be taken at the Regional University Center of the Northern Coast and in Montevideo.
