New Prosecutor’s Office seeks to transform Sosúa into a free tourist pole of sexual exploitation

SOSÚA, Puerto Plata.- With the presence of civil, police and military authorities, a Special Prosecutor in the Tourist Municipality of Sosúaas part of the second phase of the Atlantic operationan inter -institutional strategy aimed at strongly facing crimes such as Sexual exploitation, pimping, trafficking and trafficking of peopleas well as the drug microtrafficking.

The ceremony was headed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso Gómezwho after the protocol ceremony left the new facilities, located on Pedro Clisante street, in the Plaza Linda Marina. The new Prosecutor’s Office will be coordinated by the magistrate Hilda Patricia Lagombra Polancoformer director of the Penitentiary Management Model.

“Sosúa has everything to be a tourist pole of excellence,” said Reynoso. “The institutions involved are determined to eradicate any form of tourism based on the exploitation of women and children. Sosúa will never be it that it was before the Atlantic operation,” he warned.

Reynoso was accompanied by the attached attorney Wilson CamachoDirector of the General Directorate of Persecution of the Public Ministry; the director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta; The president of the DNCD, Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloaand the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful. They also attended the Vice Minister of Tourism, Patricia Mejíahe Prosecutor of Puerto Plata, Kelmi Duncanand representatives of civil society and local business.

During the act, the attorney highlighted the work of the prosecutors specialized in trafficking in persons, human rights and protection of minors, whose teams led a covert investigation for more than four months. “Maybe they didn’t see us, because it was with undercover, but we tell the criminals: we know everything,” he said.

As part of this second phase, the Prosecutor of Puerto Plata and the DNCD deployed simultaneous operations in the sectors El Batey, La Piedra and Los Charamicicoswhere multiple drugs of drugs and arrested dozens of people were dismantled.

“The goal is to return peace to Sosúa’s honest people. Criminals cannot have peace, because their peace is usually the insecurity of society,” Reynoso concluded.
