New proposal to address the financial situation of the Caja de Profesionales will be presented
The initiative is promoted by the civil association El Orden Profesional. In 2023, the project sent by the Executive Branch failed.
The Civil Association El Orden Profesional announced in a statement that on Tuesday, August 13, it will present a proposal to the national Parliament with the aim of finding solutions for the Caja de Profesionales Universitarios (CJPPU), an institution that has been facing a complex economic and financial situation for several years.
According to the document, the proposed measures cover several topics, such as a change in the model of professional contributions and an institutional redesign that would, in theory, imply a reduction of US$20 million annually.
Furthermore, the proposal seeks to “update instruments and income using a single parameter.”
A new scale of contributions of 15 categories is also proposed, with a “30% reduction in the values” of retirement contributions.
“Maintain acquired rights, such as retirement due to advanced age (age 70 and a minimum of 15 years of contributions). Be able to move up and down the contribution category according to the reality of each professional, without deadlines, without limits, without surcharges and without fines,” states the advance on the draft law that will be presented.
The presentation will be given by Alfredo Tedeschi, president of the civil association, and Fernando Rodríguez Sanguinetti, current director of the Fund elected by the active members.
The Civil Association El Orden Profesional obtained its legal status in May 2019. It is made up of “independent professionals who supported lists 9 and 19 in the elections for the institution’s authorities.
