A partnership signed this Monday morning (28) between the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aims to simplify and reduce bureaucracy in the regulatory process for investments in Brazil.
The agreement provides for the creation of a unified platform to reduce bureaucracy and attract investments to the country and was signed by the vice-president of the Republic and minister of Development, Geraldo Alckmin, and by the IDB manager for the Southern Cone, Morgan Doyle, during the 7th Brazil Investment Forum, which is being held in the capital of São Paulo.
“These are resources of R$2.5 million, non-refundable, to implement the Single Investor Window, which will be a single portal for anyone who wants to invest in Brazil and will have all the information. [O investidor vai] save time, reduce bureaucracy for licenses and authorizations. We want to attract investment and make life easier for investors, reduce costs and reduce bureaucracy. Let’s run to Camex [Câmara de Comércio e Exterior] to implement this as quickly as possible”, said Alckmin, during the event.
According to the IDB, the platform’s objective will be to use cutting-edge technology to centralize access to information, sending documents and other procedures, becoming the private sector’s point of contact with different federal government agencies. “We will work to make regulatory processes, such as authorization requests, simpler, standardized and integrated, making life easier for investors in the country. Lower costs, more efficient processes and greater predictability for investments in Brazil. That’s what we’re looking for,” said Morgan Doyle.
ApexBrasil
In addition to this partnership with the ministry, the IDB also signed a letter of intent today with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) with the aim of establishing cooperation to help state governments improve their ability to attract international investors to your projects.
According to the IDB, support for states will be provided through two axes, one of which is aimed at preparing the state to attract external capital, analyzing the availability of resources, mapping existing projects and giving priority to those that observe the adaptation and mitigation of climate effects. The second axis will be dedicated to promoting projects, connecting governments with investors through roadshowsfairs and events, both in Brazil and abroad. Roadshow is a strategy of marketing which allows you to promote a brand or product in different geographic locations.
“With the signing of this agreement, the IDB and ApexBrasil expand and deepen their activities in developing capacities in the states so that they can reach their full potential in attracting foreign investments, which brings several positive impacts on the generation of jobs and income and on the local development,” said Doyle, in a note.
