The political movement New Peru referred again to the case of kidnapping and rape suffered by a minor in Chiclayo last Tuesday, April 12, which generated a lot of indignation among citizens, who marched in various parts of the country asking for the maximum sentence for Juan Antonio Enríquez García, who is serving a preventive detention order for 9 months against him.
Indeed, through their social networks, New Peru pointed out that this act of violence against an infant reflects the cases that are currently registered in various cities of Peru against women“reaching outrageous levels of dehumanization”, for which he urged the authorities to establish “drastic measures” against the aggressors of boys and girls.
“We demand the highest penalties for these crimes, an exemplary prison for the guilty, comprehensive care and support for victims and families, but, above all, it is necessary once and for all to implement violence prevention policies, with comprehensive sexual education,” the movement said on its Twitter account.

In this sense, the organization, which was founded by former presidential candidate Verónika Mendozareminded the government to touch on issues of Gender approach in order to “end stereotypes and educate with equality”. He also urged the media “Not to make violence a show theme that at the same time reinforces inequality and other forms of violence.”
On the other hand, he stressed that although he “understands the outrage” of the population over this case, he does not share the position of those who seek to implement chemical castration and the death penalty as solutions.
“We understand the outrage, but neither chemical castration nor the death penalty are solutions. There is no evidence of its efficiency. Worse still, sectors that propose it today are the same ones that block women’s rights. We will continue to be organized fighting for our lives, ”he concluded his message.

Government proposes chemical castration for rapists
Earlier, the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, announced that his Government is considering proposing to Congress included in the Penal Code the sanction of chemical castration for rapists of minors.
It is worth mentioning that, if this measure is approved, it would be mandatory, as it is in other countries such as Russia, the United States (seven states), Poland, South Korea, Indonesia and Moldova.
“This atrocious and inhumane fact leads us to an enormous reflection as a country to adopt more severe State public policies that safeguard the human rights of the most defenseless, who are our boys and girls. And chemical castration is an option, we can’t wait any longer.” Castillo said after his visit to Chiclayo for the case of the outraged minor.
