The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) reported that as of this Monday, February 27, a new issue of the one córdoba coin circulates in the country.
“The coin of this new issue maintains the characteristics and design of the previous issues, in stainless steel material,” the financial institution detailed in a statement dated February 24.
Likewise, it indicated that the obverse of the coin “observes the legend “In God we trust”, the denomination of 1 córdoba, four stars and the number 2022, which refers to the year of its minting.”

The reverse of the coin presents “the legend” Republic of Nicaragua – Central America “and the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Nicaragua,” he added.
Among the characteristics of the one córdoba coin, it stands out that it has a diameter of 25 millimeters, a weight of 6.25 grams, a thickness of 2.00 millimeters, a grooved edge, and the metal is electroplated nickel steel.
The last time that the BCN had issued an issue of the 1 córdoba coin was on May 14, 2015, with the same characteristics of the new coin already in circulation.
According to the entity, the one córdoba coins from previous issues will continue to circulate normally at the same time as this new issue.
