The Maritime General Directorate alerts on possible flood Security measures
News Colombia
The General Maritime Directorate (DIMAR) reported an update of the meteomarine conditions in the Colombian Pacific basin, which could significantly impact the coastal communities of Cauca, Chocó, Nariño and Valle del Cauca.
Between Tuesday, January 28 and Tuesday, February 4, 2025, a lunar phase known as a new moon will occur, characterized by the phenomenon of the tide of sicigia or “bid.” The days with the highest incidence will be Saturday 1 and Sunday, February 2, which could generate floods in coastal areas.
The most vulnerable areas include Bahía Solano, Juanchaco (Buenaventura), Guapi and Tumaco. Dimar called for coastal communities, maritime guilds, fishermen, merchants and tourists to extreme security measures to prevent incidents related to these tides.
To remain informed, the Colombian maritime authority recommended consulting the reports updated on its official platforms: www.dimar.mil.co and www.cccp.dimar.mil.co.
