The remodeling of the metropolitan stadium of Barranquilla andis getting closer to becoming a reality. In the last few hours, Mayor Alejandro Char, through his account on X, reported that the tender for the expansion and remodeling of the sports arena has already been published.
“With an investment of $180 billion from the Barranquilla people’s talk, Very soon the Metro will be a stadium with more than 60 thousand seats and all the specifications of a stage of another level,” said the president of the Barranquilla people.
The million-dollar project includes the installation of more than 60,000 chairs and modern technical specifications that will put it on par with the world’s great stages. According to the district administration, the works will allow the Metropolitano to continue being a source of pride for the city and a benchmark for sports in Colombia.
Likewise, the intervention will be specifically focused on the reconfiguration of the stands, with the aim of increase the total capacity to 60,000 spectators. To achieve this, one of the main adjustments will be the lowering of the level of the field by 1.8 meters, which will also imply the elimination of the current athletic track that surrounds the playing field.

This change aims to bring the stands closer to the playing field, generating a more immersive experience aligned with international stadium standards.
