Today, after carrying out three discharges in the fires in the Biobío Region, technical personnel from the Ten Tanker detected a new failure in the plane, in the same valve that kept the aircraft on the ground for two days, who immediately began the repair.
The tanker, which is based at the Carriel Sur de Concepción airport, had made three launches in the morning, after repairing the damage yesterday: two in the Tambillo fire, Nacimiento commune, and another in the Santa Gertrudis fire, Quillon commune.
After a routine technical check of the engine 1 valve, the mechanics of the Ten Tanker company once again visualized the failure, for which reason it was decided to keep the tanker plane on the ground.
As confirmed by the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), the US technicians promised to have the aircraft flying as soon as possible.
The executive director of Conaf, Christian Little, specified that in the area where the forest fires are concentrated, there are currently 135 brigades of the organization, 4 brigades of the Armed Forces, 182 brigades of the forestry companies grouped in Corma and 40 brigades international, and 2,212 firefighters from the regions involved, plus 1,824 firefighters from other regions.
Regarding the air resource, 47 Conaf aircraft, 14 aircraft from Senapred, 9 from the Armed Forces and 38 from Corma’s forestry companies are carrying out combat and coordination tasks, in addition to the repaired Ten Tanker.
One of the aspects highlighted by the executive director of Conaf, Christian Little, is that “all these resources deployed and the fact that some humidity has been registered in the area, it can be said that the containment of the fires is being effective. Without However, we remain on alert without lowering our guard with all the resources to control the fire and in areas where there are no fires, we are carrying out intense prevention work. Our main concern is to safeguard the integrity of our brigades, protect life, property of people and nature.
In addition, he explained that there are also red alerts in the Maule, Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions, for which reason resources are also being deployed in these regions.
He also pointed out that as a country we must continue promoting prevention actions, when now the preventive early warnings and the Red Button warn that the highest probability of occurrence of forest fires and their propagation are transferred to the Metropolitan, O’Higgins and Maule regions.
In this regard, he specified that the most important thing is the co-responsibility of the citizenry, especially in avoiding actions that could cause forest fires, remembering that agricultural and forestry waste cannot be burned, nor garbage, and that artifacts should not be handled, such as cookie jars, in an area of dry vegetation due to the emission of sparks. In the event that an outbreak is detected, quickly notify Conaf 130, Firefighters 132, Carabineros 133 or PDI 134, since land and air resources are ready to carry out a prompt attack and thus be able to quickly control these accidents .
