For his part, Guillermo Reyes, the Minister of Transportation, told ‘W Radio’ that this 32-kilometre alternative route “was previously a trail” and with these works in recent weeks gave way to more than 400 vehicles, especially trucks and tractor-trailers.
“This step will save transporters those 17 hours they had to do when crossing Ecuador and the costs they had”, assured the senior official. He also said that on the weekend of February 25 and 26, another alternate route to the Pan-American Highway will be enabled for the passage of vehicles.
