The new inspector general of the National Police (PNP), Segundo Mejía Montenegro, is a native of the province of Chota, in Cajamarca, as is the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, who signed the resolution that promoted him to this position.

as confirmed Peru21the new PNP lieutenant general and head of the General Inspectorate is from Chota, specifically from the district of Chiguirip (Cajamarca).
The Head of State, together with the Minister of the Interior, Willy Huerta, sign the supreme resolution 135-2022-INpublished this Saturday August 27 in the legal regulations bulletin of El Peruano.
The document confirms the change of PNP inspector general and also promotes the aforementioned member of the Police from General de Armas to Lieutenant General.
Pedro Castillo denounces Harvey Colchado
Pedro Castillo’s new countryman PNP inspector general will be in charge of evaluating the complaint filed by the president’s lawyer, Eduardo Pachas, requesting the maximum sanction against Colonel Harvey Colchado for the raid on the residence of the Government Palace on the 9th of August.
Pachas accuses the head of the PNP special team for having acted irregularly during the raid and search for Castillo Terrones’s sister-in-law, Yenifer Paredes.
