Interior Minister Juan Fernando Cristo shed new light on the new health reform project presented by the Government. According to the official, The initiative will be submitted to Congress in the next two weeks.

The Ministry of the Interior also announced that it is evaluating the possibility that the article be presented as statutory lawand not ordinary, which would change part of its procedure.
“We are listening to the opinion of the parties. There is no final decision from the Government on whether we insist that the procedure is ordinary or review the position that there are some rules within the project, we have to look at the final content, which have a statutory character. I believe that next week we will make a decision on this matter.”explained the head of the portfolio.
For his part, the Minister of Health, Guillermo Jaramillo, announced that the process of consultation with the parties is coming to an end. In this regard, He clarified that the Government’s goal is not the nationalization of the system.
“It is our responsibility to reach consensus with all parliamentarians and we have managed to reconcile the issue of EPS and here we must make it clear that we are not nationalizing, this is not a nationalizing government,” declared Minister Jaramillo.

Along the same lines, the head of the Health portfolio indicated that the reform initiative contemplates the creation of a rural health model to serve more than 20 million people.We want to build on what has already been built, we are not going to end a system, we want to strengthen it in terms of prevention and not maintain a curative system, which is what does not allow many Colombians to access health care.”he added.
In addition to the health initiative, the Petro government plans to present to the Legislature the draft regulation of agrarian jurisdictionanother of the Executive’s major bets on its agenda.
“Next week we expect the speakers of the labor reform to present their report to begin the discussion in the plenary session of the House and within two weeks, the first projects that the Government will submit will be the health reform and the law on agrarian jurisdiction,” announced the Minister of the Interior.
