Investigative Unit and Scientific Police of Treinta y Tres starting in October
The departments corresponding to the Investigative Unit No. 1 and the Scientific Police Office of the Police Headquarters of Treinta y Tres will have a new location in the center of the city. Starting in October, they will operate in a large house in the center of the departmental capital, in order to optimize the attention to citizens.
The property includes a 500-square-meter plot of land that was loaned to the Ministry of the Interior by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) this year. The head of the departmental police, Richard Lima, told Presidential Communication that the agreement between the two ministries will allow the building to be operational from October.
Currently, the Treinta y Tres Police Headquarters has 630 officers, 30 of whom work for Investigative Unit No. 1 and the Scientific Police Office, departments that will operate in the new location.
Lima recalled that the assigned property, a large house located in the center of the departmental capital, a few blocks from the central headquarters, belonged to the National Customs Directorate for more than 15 years. Its local office was located there.
The Ministry of the Interior will be responsible for financing the work, which will also have the support of public and private institutions. The work will be carried out by police officers and is essential for its completion, said Lima, who stressed that “networking works and bears fruit.”
The expansion project also includes plans to refurbish the facilities where the Domestic and Gender Violence Unit operates.
