New government measures to deal with the rain emergency

The National Government, through Alfonso Prada, the Minister of the Interior and who is the spokesman for the Executive, three new measures to face the crisis by the wave of rain that crosses the country.

Another measure is that, this Wednesday, November 16, President Petro will install a Unified Command Post (PMU) that will meet weekly. of this, too The regional actors with the highest levels of crisis will take part and will be led by the head of state.

The latest measure is that, this Tuesday, November 15, there will be a board of directors of the Risk Attention Fund, which will meet with the objective of approving budget allocations to attend emergencies.

Resources are prioritized for hunger care.

The announcements were made after a follow-up committee to the emergency already declared by the Government, which was headed by President Gustavo Petro, was held.

It is worth remembering that 2.1 trillion pesos have already been allocated to mitigate the consequences of the rainy season with the declaration of national disaster, with which it is easier to allocate resources to the victims.

The objective of the Government is also to deliver kits with medicines and with elements that the communities require.

According to data from the UNGRD, from January 1 to this Sunday, November 13, 2,707 rain events have been registered in 776 municipalities of the country. This leaves 205 deaths, 281 injured, 53 missing and 496,226 people affected.
