New fire director must order a general audit of the institution

This Tuesday, the new general director of the Meritorious Fire Department of the Republic of Panama (BCBRP) in charge, Col. Ernesto De León Echevers, who according to the Minister of Government, Roger Tejada, should immediately order an internal audit.

The Col. De León Echevers was appointed today by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, replacing Col. Abdiel Solís, who resigned from office.

According to Minister Tejada, who is also president of the Board of Firefighters, among the priority tasks that De León Echevers will have is carrying out a general audit that allows knowing the situation of the institution; as well as an audit of positions and patrimonial assets.

Another of the issues that the new director must attend to is purchasing planning, budget execution, processes that must be done with “all the transparency of the case,” Tejada pointed out.

For his part, Col. De León expressed his interest and confidence in being able to correct and straighten the course so that the institution can modernize and become a professional institution. He invited the officials to work as a team, put in that extra bit, give their best for the benefit of the institution.
