General William Rincón relieved General Carlos Triana who was removed from office by President Gustavo Petro.

In a ceremony presided over by President Gustavo Petro Urrego, General Rincón Zambrano took office as director general of the National Police. With a career of more than 33 years in the institution, Rincón Zambrano has committed to working for a more inclusive society.

Likewise, he referred to the issue of security in the next elections, which he assured They must be developed in a free, trustworthy, participatory and peaceful environment. The plan includes, according to General Rincón, protection of applicants and candidates.
Likewise, he stated that he will have surveillance and security of the voting stations and monitoring of emerging threats to avoid crimes of any kind during these elections.
