The website of the National Electoral Council (CNE) was the target of a new cyber attack with IP addresses hosted outside Venezuela, despite the fact that its technical staff had earlier reestablished the hosting of the page.
This incident has been technically identified as a denial of service attack, the aim of which is to saturate telecommunications links in order to affect access to the website, according to a VTV note.
Following a thorough analysis by qualified personnel, it has been determined that these attacks originate from IP addresses located abroad, indicating that this is an attack directed from outside the country.
The technical staff of the Electoral Authority is working to mitigate the effects of this new attack, in order to restore the service as soon as possible.
Earlier on Monday, internet users had reported that the CNE website could be viewed on its usual site. However, a new cyber attack occurred shortly after, similar to those that occurred in the context of the attempted cyberfascist coup d’état carried out by the country’s extreme right on July 28, 29 and 30, after the presidential elections in which Nicolás Maduro emerged victorious.
