With the objective of strengthening the security strategies in the city of Huancayo, Patricia Alcántara, Technical Secretary of the Provincial Committee of Citizen Security (COPROSEC) and Citizen Security Manager of the Provincial Municipality of Huancayo (MPH), officially delivered the last update of the crime and risk map to the PNP Commander David Ramírez Panta, head of the Huancayo Commission. The event was held in compliance with Directive No. 003-2024-IN-DGSC of the Ministry of Interior.

Patricia Alcántara highlighted the importance of this update: “The crime and risk map is an essential tool to plan and execute operations based on real data. Thanks to this update, we can direct efforts towards the areas most affected by crime, improving the efficiency of our interventions.” In addition, he added that “this map allows us to identify crimes patterns, facilitating a quick and well directed response, as part of a comprehensive security plan for the coming years.”
José K. Huaranca Ramírez, Technical Coordinator of the Commitment 5 of Citizen Security, stressed that the map, divides the city into four major sectors, each with particular characteristics.
Sector 1: From the Mantaro River to Huancavelica Avenue. Here the crimes against heritage predominate, such as robberies and assaults this sector has shown an increase in thefts to passers -by and robberies in parked vehicles.
Sector 2: From Huancavelica Avenue to the top, bordering José Olaya and Leandra Torres. High clandestine prostitution indices, drug microcomercialization and alcohol consumption in public spaces are recorded, especially in the TUPAC Park and Identity Avenue, areas known for its high concentration of illegal activities. in busy places such as the model market and the Royal Plaza Huancayo. In addition, the so -called “Zona Rosa”, in Calixto, Mantaro and the June 15 Park where several cases of aggressions and violence have been reported.
Sector 3: It starts in José Olaya upwards, bordering the Chilca area and the skirts of Cerro Corona del Fraile and others. Here the crimes related to dangerous gangs predominate, whose members are involved in extortion and aggressions to citizens, in addition to the illegal sale of drugs.
Sector 4: From Palian to the square nails. This sector is known for its excessive consumption of alcohol on public roads, which generates an environment of insecurity, in addition to abigeato.
The map serves to detect temporary patterns in the crime commission, such as schedules and days with the highest criminal incidence.
The update of the crime and risk map of Huancayo aligns with the Provincial Plan for Citizen Security 2024–2027, to strengthen security.
