Víctor Ríos, former senator and new court minister, was officially presented to the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).
César Diesel and Manuel Ramírez Candia, president and minister of the Court respectively, led an extraordinary session to welcome him and respond to some inquiries from the press.
The former senator indicated that he is resuming the commitment to continue working with the same convictions that he had in the Upper House. It promises to respect the National Constitution and also the division of powers. He stressed that it comes to help for the proper functioning of the Judiciary and to collaborate with the republican system of government. In addition, he will seek to work in coordination and harmoniously with the other ministers of the Court.
“I will help the current members of the Supreme Court of Justice to continue working with the purpose of ensuring the proper functioning of the Judiciary and continue with the transparency policy already established in the highest judicial instance,” he promised.
JUDICIAL MORNING
Before the consultation on the judicial delay, he pointed out that the ministers have been making a great effort to combat the scourge.
He pointed out that they will implement scientific tools to determine percentages of files that are in arrears and have credible statistics, know exactly what the reasons are and continue with the work.
He also stressed that independence is important for all powers.
“The independence of the Judiciary is a permanent construction. Other economic and social powers. They all want to impose their hegemonies. I will be one more in working in the independence of the Judicial Power, ”he said.
Regarding the Constitutional Chamber, where the disputed actions of unconstitutionality are presented, he indicated that they will seek to expedite the procedures. Therefore, what can collaborate in this transparency policy will do so.
Finally, he reported that he had already requested his expulsion from the registry of the Liberal Party (PLRA).
REPLACEMENT
Carlos Vidal Zena Duarte, a former Liberal deputy and former candidate for mayor of Santa Rosa del Aguaray, assumed the seat left by Ríos in the Senate. Fernando Nicora, also a former liberal deputy, was supposed to be the replacement, but he died in 2020 due to Covid-19.
Ombudsman’s Office
Miguel Ángel Godoy assumed the position of ombudsman yesterday morning. It will be in office until November 2026. The act took place prior to the development of the extraordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies. That is, after the suspension due to lack of a quorum in the ordinary session.
