The Union of Argentine Streetcar Workers (UTA) announced a new strike of collective that will affect hundreds of passengers throughout the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA).
According to the union, they will suspend the public transport service next Tuesday, August 2, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, when the service is expected to resume collective.
The unemployment of collective it is given in claim of a salary adjustment and to demand that the Government attend to their demands; this, after the UTA failed to reach an agreement with the businessmen to reopen the joint ventures.
“We workers are forced to take unpleasant measures to take care of the purchasing power of our salariesand we demand to be heard,” the organization said in a press release.
And they argued: “we workers want to earn a decent wage, to be able to take home, to support our families; the money we have worked for, to make ends meet as we deserve”.
The union also maintained that, due to high inflationary pressure, their income has been reduced, which is why they demand a salary readjustment, since employers have not responded to their requests.
“We know the economic reality that is going through, but we are not responsible for the current situation, for the inflation that month after month, reduces the purchasing power of wages”, and they added: “We have made a claim for the advancement of joint wages and we ask for an urgent salary increase”.
