The corporation cigars SA announced on Monday the appointment of Cuban executive Maritza Carrillo González as its new co-chair after receiving the approval of the Shareholders’ Meeting.
In an official statement it is said that this promotion is endorsed by the experience, knowledge and work carried out by Carrillo González for several years in different positions within the corporation and other entities related to the world of habano (Premium Cuban cigar made completely by hand), according to a report from the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

The new co-chair has a degree in International Economic Relations. She was linked to the world of tobacco from the beginning of her professional career and was part of the founding team of Corporación Habanos SA, adds the newspaper.
In that firm, he held various responsibilities in the areas of Sales, Marketing and Business Development.
Between 2006 and 2011 she was the Director of Marketing and Head of Havanesa stores in the company Empor SA, Exclusive Distributor of Cuban cigars in Portugal.
Subsequently, she assumed the position of President of Comercial Iberoamericana SA (Cohiba) based in Spain. When she finished this position in 2021, she became General Director of Tabagest SA, until her recent appointment to the new position in the company, she specifies the information.
The report does not indicate which of the two co-presidents of Habanos SA will be replaced from now on by Carrillo González, the first woman to hold that position in the company.

Habanos SA is a world leader in the commercialization of Premium cigars, both in Cuba and in the rest of the world. For this, it has an exclusive distribution network on five continents and in more than 150 countries, according to the information disclosed by the company on its website.
It sells 27 brands made entirely by hand and protected by the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), among which Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás, Hoyo de Monterrey and H. Upmann, among others.
Habanos have been made by hand for more than five centuries with cuban tobaccoconsidered by connoisseurs the best in the world due to the triple condition of soil, climate and experience of the producers.
The company plans to organize the 23rd edition of the Habano Festival in Havana from February 27 to March 3, this time in person, along with regular online presentations during the two years that the convention was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
