The National Agrifood Health and Quality Service (Senasa) confirmed this Sunday afternoon a new positive case of avian influenza (AI) H5 in backyard birds in the province of Buenos Aires, thus There are 20 detections of the disease in total so far.
Of the nine samples analyzed this Sunday by the Senasa National Laboratory, eight had a negative diagnosis and one was positive for AI H5 belonging to an establishment located in the Buenos Aires town of Azul.
After confirmation of the cases, agents of the Buenos Aires Sur Regional Center of Senasa will carry out the corresponding sanitary actions in the property in question.
This way, Of the more than a hundred notifications handled by Senasa, there are 20 confirmed cases in wild and backyard birds to date (9 in Córdoba, 4 in Buenos Aires, 2 in Santa Fe, 1 in Jujuy, 1 in Neuquén, 1 in Río Negro, 1 in San Luis and 1 in Salta).
This new case joins four others reported by the official agency in the last few hours, registered in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Río Negro and San Luis.
From Senasa they reminded producers and people in general that in case of observing the presence or suspicion of clinical signs compatible with avian influenza in birds or the discovery of dead domestic and/or wild birds, the health agency must be notified by means of of the “Senasa Notifications” application or by sending an email to [email protected].
