In the Araucanía Region, a new arson attack was recorded this Thursday afternoon, in which four trucks were left destroyed in the town of Collipulli, perpetrated by at least seven hooded men.

“Around 1:00 p.m. today, Carabineros have been informed that on the R-49 route, which connects the town of Collipulli with Curaco and inland communities, there was an arson attack that, so far, As preliminary information, it would involve four trucks,” the general and head of the IX Araucanía zone, Manuel Cifuentes, reported in this regard. “This crime, according to the records we have had so far, was perpetrated by seven hooded individuals armed with firearms, who forced the drivers to get off and proceeded to pour some accelerating chemical that produced the combustion of these vehicles,” he added. .

Likewise, he reported that “particular instructions have already been received for the purpose of carrying out an investigation process in relation to this attack,” added the uniformed officer, after sending the information to the Public Ministry.

In this context, the general warned of certain situations, regarding which he stated that “it is typical that when these attacks occur, roadblocks are generated to make it more difficult for police teams to enter.”

“Right now, Curaco personnel are in place and, obviously, they are being supported by Public Order personnel for the purpose of providing security to the people who are being affected by this crime, as well as to the people who come to do specialized skills”.

“At the moment, there are shots, they are not directed at the people or carabineros who are proceeding in the place, it is also part of the strategy. It is common that they are seen in some illicit of this nature, that shots are generated in the vicinity, but so far we have no record that they have been directed towards the victims of this punishable act,” he concluded.
