New attack is recorded in Perquenco: hooded men set fire to the farm of a former regional councilor

A new arson attack was recorded on a farm in the commune of Perquenco, in the region of La Araucanía.

The attack affected the farm of former regional councilor Carmen Philips, who was in the area at the time of the attack. They forced her and a worker to leave by threatening them.

Subsequently, the 8 hooded men proceeded to intentionally set fire to the employer’s mansion and also several warehouses. Trucks and agricultural machinery were also affected.

Firefighters from the commune worked on the spot with the support of the Carabineros COP, who closed off the area so that the volunteers could put out the fire.

In the place, a poster-type canvas was found that alludes to the Mapuche cause, where it read “Latifundistas out of Mapuche territory.”
