The Police Chief of EcuadorCommander Fausto Salinas, informed this Monday of a new attack on a police station in the coastal province of Guayas, where last week there were several attacks on police units, gas stations and the explosion of cars.
“Last week was a tough week.complicated for the country and especially for the National Police,” said Salinas.
In the context of “criminal actions of narco-terrorism”, last week six police officers were killed and 29 were injured, he added.
He pointed out that they maintain actions against known criminal groups like “the chonekillers” and the “tiguerones”, but the attacks continue.
“This morning We woke up with an attack against a Police Unit Community (UPC) in Guayaquil, and likewise, the response has been forceful”, and made the “legitimate use” of firearms, he said. He added that there were “two wounded by the attackers and one person who has bruises” .
They are retaliation of the narco
The police chief assured that so far this year they have seized nearly “170 tons of narcotic substances subject to control” and many dismantled criminal organizations.
“That causes the main clash to be against our policemen,” he said, pointing out that the attack that occurred last week, above all, on the fuel stations “is to cause fear.
Salinas commented that this Monday morning in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas a gang was captured with weaponsand investigate other offshoots of criminal organizations.
The attacks began last week, the day authorities began the transfer of more than 1,000 inmates to other prisons. The military and the police also intervened in the Litoral Penitentiary and seized weapons, ammunition, explosives and illegal communication systems.
