New arson attack in Arauco province: hooded men burned 26 trucks and fired into the air to threaten workers at a gravel plant

A new arson attack was recorded in the province of Arauco, Biobío region, where 26 trucks were burned by a group of 40 hooded men who had previously intimidated the local workers with automatic weapons fire.

Specifically, the incident took place at a gravel collection plant in Los Álamos located in the Villa Los Ríos sector, which was five kilometers from a police unit.

According to preliminary information provided by Third, a group of 40 individuals beat the workers and subsequently intimidated them by firing bursts of automatic weapons. After this action, they proceeded to spray the trucks that they found in the silver with flammable liquid.

From the Biobío prosecutor’s office they announced the availability of specialized personnel to the scene to take statements from witnesses, collect samples of accelerants, vanilla, fingerprints and any other element that helps to find the whereabouts of those responsible.

In February 2018, the same company had already lost 14 machines in a similar arson attack.

The chief of operations of the Carabineros of the Eighth Zone of Biobío, John Paul Uretaindicated that “what happened last night in Los Alamos is being investigated. We have an operational deployment as a territorial unit and we have the support of armored personnel, which is from the Public Order Control staff of the southern macrozone, which is intervening There is a specialized team deployed, collecting evidence, conducting a study of the site of the event to make available to the Public Ministry any trace, footprint or any indication that allows us to detect the perpetrators of this unfortunate event.”

Meanwhile, from the National Confederation of Truck Owners of Chile they expressed that “the authority is totally exceeded” when referring to the attack.

“The attack in Los Álamos, Los Ríos sector, shows that the Province of Arauco is a lawless land,” they said in a statement.
