Colombia sent 136 soldiers to Sinai to carry out security tasks and verify the Egypt-Israel peace agreement.
The National Army continues to be one of the world leaders in the training of troops for the development of highly complex and precise military operations.
That is why its men and women have a high level of performance and operational capabilities that are key in the development of intelligence, analysis and combat work.

These qualities have allowed, during 43 consecutive yearsthe Colombian Army sent platoons with its best men to the Sinai Peninsula, where they represent the Military Forces.
The new platoon
It has been more than 43 years since the first Colombian soldier set foot on Egyptian lands representing the country as part of the Multinational Peace and Observer Force in the Sinai Peninsula.
It is known that, on this occasion, they are 136 military10 officers, 20 non-commissioned officers and 106 soldiers, who, after more than six months of preparation more than 11,500 kilometers from their homeland, in the Sinai Peninsula, ratify the professionalism and gallantry of the Colombian military.
It is about the one hundred and twenty-sixth relay to the Sinai Peninsula.
The farewell ceremony for the members of the Colombia Battalion No. 3, who will be out of the country for more than a year, took place at the Parade Field of the General Carlos Julio Gil Colorado Artillery School, in Bogotá.

The event was chaired by Major General Erick Rodríguez Aparicio, second commander of the National Army.
What will the military do in Sinai?
This unit, one of the most prepared in the National Army, is responsible for observing, verifying and establishing the perimeter security in the northern field, Zone C, Sinai.
It is approximately 4,400 square kilometers. In addition, they are in charge of protecting the facilities of the headquarters of the Multinational Peace Force and Observers.
Likewise, in the international mission carried out by Colombian troops, compliance with the peace treaties between Egypt and Israel and the custody of the disputed territory for more than thirty years.

“This demonstrates that operational effectiveness, together with the preparation received at the School of International Missions and Comprehensive Action, is recognized by the world’s armies as a differential capacity to guarantee security and ensure compliance with the peace agreement,” the Army explained.
The first flight that will take the Colombian military to the Sinai Peninsula will depart on December 2.
