The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled through his Telegram channel his meeting with the general secretary of the Organization of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty, Martin Von Hildebrand, which reaffirms Venezuela’s commitment to the protection of the environment through the ecosocialism and ancestral cultures to protect biodiversity.
The national president struggled that this geographical space is not a merchandise, it is a territory of life, and that in “Venezuela we are committed to preserve it together with the sister countries of the region and continue to build a fair and sovereign ecological future, because defending the Amazon is defending life itself.”
Through its social networks, the Head of State stressed that this meeting is part of a strategic cooperation map to protect sovereignty over natural resources and the integrity of aboriginal peoples that inhabit that territory.
He stressed that this productive meeting concentrated on joining efforts for the protection of the Amazon, “great green lung that is life and culture of our peoples”, and progress was made in strategies for sustainable development, climate justice and the defense of environmental sovereignty.
