This decline is driven by a combination of factors, including the accumulation of solid waste from traditional festivities and the environmental impact of human activities. The Santiago festivities in the Huaytapallana Regional Conservation Area (ACR) have contributed significantly to the deterioration of the humid puna ecosystems due to the accumulation of waste.
This situation has led the GRJ to call an urgent meeting with INAIGEM and ALA Mantaro to discuss the main threats and seek effective solutions.
Vladimir Yáñez Rodríguez, regional manager of Natural Resources and Environmental Management, stressed the urgency of the situation: “Immediate intervention is crucial. INAIGEM supports all decisions aimed at preserving Huaytapallana and will provide all necessary studies that demonstrate the degradation of ecosystems.” he detailed.
An immediate response is required from the Junín Regional Government.
