In the case of Nevado del Ruiz it is 300 or 400 degrees“, explained John Makario Londoño, technical director of geohazards of the SGC and who affirmed that the earthquakes occurred in “the eastern-northeastern and southwestern sectors of the volcano and in the Arenas crater, at depths between 0.5 and 4.5 kilometers“.

The entity added that the parameters analyzed indicate that the volcano has not returned to its normal activity and that the column of gases reached a height of 1,600 meters.
