Last night, the number one in the world, the Polish Iga Swiatek, prevailed over the eighth, the Russian Daria Kasatkina, 6-2 and 6-3 in her debut at the WTA Finals held in Fort Worth (Texas), in a day in which the French Caroline García defeated Coco Gauff.
This is the Russian’s fifth consecutive loss to the Pole, who continues to be unable to win a single set from her this year.
Iga Swiatek was very firm on her serve, not giving it up in any game and only conceding three break points.

After winning the first set 6-2, Swiatek’s start in the second was demolition Man with another break to his rival and making it 3-0 in the light. Kasatkina’s possible comeback seemed like a pipe dream and the Pole finished off her win in one hour and twenty-two minutes.
Iga Swiatek wants to round off a magnificent year in Fort Worth in which she has won two majors, Roland Garros and the US Open.
Add one more victory to remain as the one with the best balance of the year in the WTA with 65 wins and only eight losses. As well as the only one to finish the year with more than 10,000 points in the ranking since Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova did it in 2013.
The other duel of the Tracy Austin group was carried out by the American Coco gauff and the French Caroline Garcia, with the final victory of the second by 6-4 and 6-3 in one hour and eighteen minutes.
Caroline García reappeared in a WTA Finals after five years and she did it forcefully, proving to be one of the tennis players who arrives at the tournament in better shape. That 2017 edition was her only participation so far for her.
In the first set there was a lot of equality in the first games, with a situation of 4-3 in favor of Garcia, Gauff served to equalize, but he gave up his service and at 39 minutes the French liquidated him.
In the second set, despite the fact that Coco Gauff managed to break her rival’s serve to recover until 2-3, she was unable to cause major problems. Caroline García showed character and forcefulness to finish, combining play from the baseline with very aggressive raises to the net.
Gauff had so far won two of the three matches that had pitted her against Garcia, but the Frenchwoman now equals the stats between the two.
García, favorite for the title, is the only tennis player in this group who has managed to defeat Iga Swiatek in 2022.
Today the action resumes in the Nancy Richey group with the Greek Maria Sakkari and the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in pursuit of their second victory after having won both on Monday.
Before that, the Tunisian Ons Jabeur and the American Jessica Pagula will play, looking to make their debut in these WTA Finals.
