He Specialized Body for the Control of Fuels and Merchandise Trade (CECCOM) dismantled a network of manufacturers of adulterated alcoholic beverages, from whom they seized more than 500 packaged units ready to be sold through an operation carried out in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos.
Three plastic tanks with more than 140 gallons of alcohol prepared for bottling were also destroyed, as well as 63 jugs of alcohol, 2,000 bottles that were empty and labeled, 5,403 bottle caps, 4,300 tax control labels, as well as rolls of adhesive tape allegorical to a national production company and 152,000 Dominican pesosbank cards, a VeriFone and cell phones.

CECCOM reported that the network of manufacturers was detained jointly with the entities of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes and Offenses against Health, the Army, the Ministry of Public Health, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (ProConsumidor) and the General Directorate of Customs (DGA).
As part of the operations, they were arrested Alexis Rodriguez and Jenny Cabrera.
The operations were carried out in order to counteract the marketing and manufacturing of these drinks that do not comply with health protocols and that are sometimes introduced into the country illegally to evade paying taxes to the State, as well as to apply Law 17-19 on the eradication of illicit trade. CECCOM is a department of the Ministry of Defense. It was created as a department of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
