SANTO DOMINGO.- José Nicolás Castillo Hart (el Gordo), arrested during Operation Panthera 7 and identified as one of the leaders of the group responsible for mobilizing the 9.8 tons of cocaine seized at the beginning of December at the Multimodal Caucedo port, was extradited from Colombia in July 2016 identified as the author of the death of a soldier assigned to the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) in 2011.
Castillo Hart was arrested in the South American country after spending 5 years on the run accused of the death of Army Sergeant, Raymond Toribio García, in an event that occurred in the early hours of December 9, 2011, on San Vicente de Paúl Avenue.
In this incident, Air Force Corporal Hugo Abel Hernández Noboa and civilians Manuel Antonio Valenzuela Ramírez, Brayan Viciedo, and Juan Jesús Rodríguez Morillo, who accompanied Sergeant Toribio García, were shot in different parts of the body.
According to reports, the incident occurred when, upon leaving the nightclub, Sergeant Toribio García argued with Castillo Hart and his companions, leading to a shootout in which the soldier suffered a bullet wound to the head and left forearm.
