Costa Rica beat New Zealand in the playoffs, this Tuesday, 1-0 in Al Rayyan to become the 32nd and last team qualified for the Qatar-2022 World Cup.
With this victory, Costa Rica is framed in group E of the global event and will have Germany, Spain and Japan as rivals.
In addition, the Central American team achieved its 6th qualification for the final phase of a World Cup and 3rd in a row.
Yesterday, Australia had become the penultimate country instead of its ticket to the World Cup by beating Peru 5-4 on penalties (0-0 in 120 minutes) also in a playoff match played in Al Rayyan.
The ‘Aussies’ will play in Group D against defending champions France, Denmark and Tunisia.
