Netanyahu affirms that Latin American countries “are returning to the American axis”

The head of the Israeli government again congratulated US President Donald Trump, to whom he attributed the decision to order the attacks and the arrest of Maduro

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, celebrated this Sunday that “many countries” in Latin America “are returning to the American axis,” after the military operation carried out by the United States in Venezuela, which led to attacks against strategic points and the capture of Nicolás Maduro in Caracas.

“I must say that in Latin America in general we are witnessing a transformation, and many countries are returning to the American axis and, as expected, also to the relationship with the State of Israel,” Netanyahu said in a statement released by his office.

The head of the Israeli government again congratulated US President Donald Trump, to whom he attributed the decision to order the attacks and the arrest of Maduro. According to reports from Washington, the Venezuelan president was transferred to the United States and remains held in a detention center in New York, where he will face charges before the US justice system starting this Monday.

“I want to express the support of the entire government of Israel for the firm decision and action of the United States to restore freedom and justice also in this region of the world,” Netanyahu said. “We congratulate President Trump for his decision and we also applaud the US military forces who carried out an impeccable operation,” he added.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s statements are part of a series of supportive statements issued in recent hours by senior officials of his government. On Saturday, both Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Saar publicly praised the actions of Trump and the US military.

So far, there have been no official reactions from Latin American governments to Netanyahu’s statements about an eventual regional realignment, while diplomatic tensions persist after the events in Venezuela.
