Coyuca de Benítez, Gro., During her tour of Guerrero, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stressed the importance of the officials of her movement maintaining their conduct in accordance with the principles of closeness to the people and away from privileges.

“Here there are no guaruras, nor glass castles far from the people; we rulers must live in the right middle, close to the people and with humility,” he said.

Before thousands of inhabitants of Coyuca de Benítrez, a town hit two years ago by Hurricane Otis, the president defended the importance of not moving away from principles, in the midst of the controversy in which some Morenista officials are involved, such as the mayor of Acapulco, Abelina López, (she was not summoned to the presidential morning conference held in that port), who has not clarified the origin of a luxurious necklace.

Later, through her social networks, the mayor shared a photograph of her attendance at Sheinbaum’s private tour of different parts of Acapulco.

Sheinbaum recalled the 36 years of impoverishment of the people, while the majority of the six neoliberal presidents who governed the country in that period enriched themselves under the protection of political power, with corrupt governments.

He declared that all this ended in 2018 with the triumph of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who led a new model of government close to the people, “political power was separated from economic power and we govern with principles.

“Someone from the elites did not appoint us to please a few, the people of Mexico appointed us and we serve them.”

Therefore, under the principle of “for the good of all, the poor first,” policies were designed that allowed 13.5 million Mexicans to be lifted out of poverty, he stressed.

Likewise, two years after the hurricane Otisthe recovery of Acapulco is advancing, since in this holiday season the tourist influx registered an 89.5 percent increase and the economic benefit increased by 131.7 percent, reported the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado.

He declared that in terms of hotel infrastructure, in 2025 the port will close with 16,536 rooms and 300 hotels.

For his part, the head of the National Tourism Promotion Fund, Sebastián Ramírez – who coordinates federal actions in favor of Acapulco – declared that as part of the urban improvement, 3,500 lights have been installed and 1,500 poles have been replaced.

In addition to this, progress is being made in the modernization of four corridors: the Port Garden, which is in charge of the Secretary of the Navy, which is being rehabilitated in conjunction with the boardwalk at the Cruise Terminal. In addition, the corridor that goes from the Fort of San Diego to the Zócalo; the one that runs from the Zócalo towards La Quebrada and Caleta–Caletilla, which is one of the most emblematic beaches and visited by Mexicans.

A route has been designed to rehabilitate 15 places of high historical, cultural and artistic value, which are some beaches, museums, sculptures, with special emphasis on the Historic Center of Acapulco and progress is being made in the illumination of the San Diego fort, a 17th century building.

For his part, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jesús Esteva, stated that with an investment of four thousand 600 million pesos, several roads are expanded and rehabilitated, with emphasis on Salina Cruz to Zihuatanejo, Zihuatanejo to Toluca and Cuautla-Tlapa.

In addition, drainage, ditches, slope stabilization and retaining walls were intervened to deal with the rains.
