Residents of the Palermo neighborhood of the city of Mariano Roque Alonso (MRA), have been fighting for a decade against Isidro Zarza, a person who invaded the neighborhood square also called “Palermo.”
Luis Gómez, a member of the organization “Citizen Audit of Mariano Roque Alonso”, reported that the occupant is supported by the president of the board, Christian Javier Jorgge and Carolina Aranda, the communal chief, therefore, he does not leave the public space despite of the complaints. “We have reached the National Congress to mediate because there is no progress in the municipality. They tried to mediate but the mayor did not attend and the councilors did not attend the meetings either. They sent ignorant people in his place. Twice they were summoned but they did not attend and it ended like this, ”he lamented.
As a result of this situation, the residents filed a lawsuit with the Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, claiming that Zarza built a farm in a public square. “It has animals that eat the plants we plant. He makes use of the court, renting it for his own benefit, we can’t do anything”, lamented the neighbor.
Carolina Aranda, mayor of Mariano Roque Alonso (MRA), is currently serving her second term in office. In July of last year she had resigned to seek re-election. For this reason, from July to October, she was interim Rafael Gómez as community chief. With Gómez, the neighbors registered several advances, he even warned that the place wants to be sold by the communal authorities who were before him and who achieved re-election.
“We set up the commission and started to fight. In a short time, the mayor made us the walker and the light. Despite that, the invader remains strong. The councilman says that an administrative measurement is going to be done to define but it never materializes. We have all these problems, as the mayor’s husband is a deputy, he handles many things, “he said.
Finally, he questioned the work of the Ministry of the Environment (Mades), considering that next to the square there is a water course that was affected by constructions carried out by the invader. Despite the promises of actions due to the illegality of the works, the Mades never advanced in the works to curb the environmental impact.
