More than 11 residents of the Cahuide neighborhood, in the district of Chilca, presented their complaint to the Huancayo Crime Prevention Prosecutor’s Office, as they were not heard, due to a work being carried out by Sedam Huancayo and which would generate subsequent flooding of their properties with the arrival of rains.
This is “Improvement of the sanitary sewage service in the Chilca River sector, an urban area between the districts of Chilca and Huancayo.”
“They intend to connect the Huancayo drainage to the Chilca area and it would pass under the river that was channeled. “Last Friday we were flooded with rain and we reported that, but they didn’t pay attention to us,” said the leader Pilar Rojas Romo.
Given this alert from the neighbors, they requested a technical opinion from the District Municipality of Chilca, an institution that through Official Letter No. 043-2024-MDCH/DDCGRD addressed to the company Sedam Huancayo reported: “In view of the events that occurred on 11/27/2023, the Cahuide neighborhood (Jirones Sauces to Cahuide) was hit by floods (…) the connections that are being made from Huancayo to Chilca represent a very high risk, given that these mailboxes would collapse, affecting the people of the sector.”
