Neighbors and merchants from Communes 7, 9 and 10 of Buenos Aires will hold a protest on Friday in rejection of the Metrobús work announced by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires on Alberdi and Directorio avenues, considering the project “unconsulted, useless and harmful” for the area.
The mobilization will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Alberdi and Mariano Acosta avenues -on the border of the Floresta, Liniers and Parque Avellaneda neighborhoods- against the exclusive lane for public transport that will have an extension of 5.8 kilometers .
“Alberdi has no problems and if they take away our parking, they harm businesses and the neighborhood,” said the groups that organized the activity, referring to the fact that the work foresees a prohibition to leave cars on both sidewalks of the avenues through which it will circulate. the Metrobus.
The members of the Buenos Aires Community Board 9 of Together for Change (JXC) and the Frente de Todos (FDT) signed a resolution in which they expressed their rejection of the execution of the Metrobus
In this sense, they denounced that the Buenos Aires government fails to comply with the Constitution because it has not participated in a work that will destroy local businesses, will collapse the side streets, does not respect historical protection areas and removes old trees.”
“It is a preposterous, unconsulted, useless and harmful project with the sole perceived purpose of a real estate business,” residents and merchants said in a statement.
The one-way corridor will go in the General Paz direction through Alberdi and towards the center through Directorio and, as anticipated weeks ago from the Buenos Aires Government, construction was going to begin in December, something that has not happened yet.
“It is an insane, unconsulted, useless and harmful project with the sole perceived purpose of a real estate business,” residents and merchants said in a statement.
In this regard, the members of the Buenos Aires Community Board 9 of Together for Change (JXC) and the Frente de Todos (FDT) signed a resolution in which they expressed their rejection of the execution of the Metrobus.
