This newspaper made a tour of some neighborhoods in the northern part of Santo Domingo, to learn about the problems that have affected a considerable number of families for several weeks.

First, we wanted to know about some neighborhoods where the liquid arrives frequently, and then go to the neighborhoods where it is scarce.

Also, the shortage It is evident in neighborhoods such as: Gualey, Guachupita and Los Guandules, which, in addition to the lack of opportunities, and submerged in extreme poverty, are now added, as every year, by the lack of water due to the evident and typical drought the first months of the year.

It is that before the call of the Corporation of Aqueducts and Sewers of Santo Domingo (Caasd), to avoid waste, the message did not escalate to this segment, ignoring the call of the authorities to rationalize the precious liquid due to the terrible droughts facing the country.

The caasdissued a permanent surveillance alert on the flows, as well as the pumping operation, which could prevent the equipment from being strained in its functionality.

Similarly, the government institution has said that in these amounts the deficit of potable water that is sent in Greater Santo Domingo is about 100 million gallons, due to severe droughts.

As reported, the production of water at the moment dropped from 420 million gallons per day to 320 million, which means that there has been a decrease of 100 million gallons per day.

Precisely, this deficit is what affects the distribution in sectors of the capital, and Greater Santo Domingo, are affected by the shortage.
